What could you actually earn in tech sales?
Real salary ranges from Australian and New Zealand SaaS companies with $100M+ revenue. Based on live market data, not job board averages.
How we calculated this
The ranges come from Australian and New Zealand SaaS companies with $100M+ revenue. OTE is base plus commission at 100% quota. Base is typically 70% of OTE. Location modifiers reflect real pay differences between Sydney, Melbourne and the rest of ANZ. Experience nudges your position within the published range. Top performer numbers assume consistent above-quota attainment.
What the numbers mean
Base salary is the fixed portion paid into your account each fortnight, regardless of performance. OTE (on-target earnings) is base plus the commission you’d earn at 100% of quota. Above 100% you earn more; below 100% you earn less. Top performers above quota typically earn 15% beyond the published range thanks to accelerators in most ANZ SaaS comp plans.
Why the city you’re in matters
Sydney typically pays a 7% premium over the Melbourne baseline because of higher cost of living and a denser SaaS hiring market. Brisbane and Perth sit at the baseline. Adelaide is roughly 3% below. New Zealand-based roles run roughly 12% under the Australian baseline. Remote-first roles within Australia almost always pay the Melbourne baseline regardless of where you live, which is one of the quiet wins of the post-2020 remote shift.
